With $1.2M invested in businesses in the territory and 197 businesses supported this year, the SADC is an essential help for the economic recovery of the region

Gatineau, June 7, 2023 – In its 2022-2023 fiscal year, the Société d’aide au développement de la collectivité (SADC) de Papineau-Collines invested more than $1.2 million in business loans, which contributed to the completion of 2,$4 million in economic benefits in the Papineau RCM, the Collines-de-l’Outaouais RCM and the Buckingham and Masson-Angers sectors of Gatineau.

To this financial support, are added 1122 hours invested in personalized support for entrepreneurs, thus promoting the development of business projects and the adaptation of business practices to increase their competitiveness.

After adjusting its programs in 2020 and 2021 to meet the urgent needs of local businesses to cope with the economic difficulties caused by the pandemic, SADC refocused its efforts on its primary mission during 2022: supporting the start-up and growth of businesses in our territory. “Our small rural businesses are resilient and innovative, and our government will always support them in their growth. This year, through the delivery of programs such as The Tourism Small Business Assistance Project, SADC has enabled tourism businesses to better equip themselves and remain competitive. This support is an important step in efforts to revitalize the economic vitality of our region,” said Stéphane Lauzon, Member of Parliament for Argenteuil La Petite-Nation and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Rural Economic Development.

“We are extremely happy to have been able to resume our fieldwork this year. When we get to meet entrepreneurs and bring them together around urging issues such as the “green shift” and business succession, our actions have the most impact. If SADC is distinguished by its proximity with the community, it is because our organization is governed by people from the region, citizens, volunteers and territorial employees, who have a thorough knowledge of it. The dynamism of the exchanges between entrepreneurs and our advisors, generated during these thematic meetings testify to the relevance of our support”, says Mélissa Bergeron, General manager.
